After years of dreaming and planning, nothing can compare to the emotion and excitement you feel on your wedding day. As the bride, you’re the center of attention. A stunning wedding gown, beautiful jewelry, and flawless hair and makeup–there’s no doubt you’ve planned everything. Make sure you feel comfortable and confident in your wedding gown, full of energy, and your absolute best at your wedding by following these quick tips on the big day:
Wake up and drink a glass or two of water right away, even before you get to your morning cup of coffee. But be sure limit your liquid intake about 2 hours before you’re scheduled to walk down the aisle so you won’t have to make an emergency trip to the restroom after you’re in your wedding gown.
Many brides feel faint or weak on their wedding day due to an easy-to-avoid mistake–they skip breakfast! Eat something healthy and filling, like yogurt and granola, or whole wheat toast with fresh fruit. Avoid salty foods since they can cause bloating.
Treat yourself to 15 minutes of alone time before your wedding party, photographer, and others arrive to start the wedding day prep. Take a walk to wake yourself up, get fresh air, and give your brain time to run through any last-minute thoughts. This will help ensure you feel energized and ready for the day!
While having your hair and make-up done, be sure to wear a button-down shirt so that it won’t do any damage when you change into your wedding gown. Choose a shirt that matches your wedding gown color so that your makeup artist can best coordinate shades.
Take 10 minutes to jot down some notes about how you’re feeling, what you’re most looking forward to, and all the activity going on around you. In 20 years, you and your kids will enjoy looking back to see what was going through your head on your wedding day.
There’s one common mistake that you’ll want to avoid at all costs on your wedding day–drinking too much! Limit yourself to one mimosa with the bridal party as you get ready or one glass of wine in the dressing room. You want to be fully present–and presentable!–as you walk down the aisle and marry the love of your life, so don’t let a few too many drinks get in the way of a perfect wedding day.
