Are you planning a night wedding? Saying your “I do’s” after dark sets a romantic mood and adds a certain je ne sais quoi to your special day. A night wedding provides the perfect opportunity to introduce special elements to your big day that most weddings may not have. It also presents you with a new set of things to consider that your average bride may not give much thought to. These are some of our favorite tips for couples who are planning a night wedding:
Even if you’re getting married in the summer, temperatures can really drop after the sun goes down. There are plenty of ways to help ensure your guests stay warm regardless of whether you’ll be having your ceremony and reception indoors or outside. Patio heaters not only warm up guests, but add to the ambience as well. Drape blankets over guests chairs. Small blankets, like those you get from an airline, could make for a clever and useful guest favor!
You’ll definitely want to talk to your photographer about unique photo ideas for your night wedding, plus get any tips he or she has to ensure your photos come out perfectly with less natural light. One fun idea is to hand out sparklers–your guests will have fun playing around with them, and the photographer will be able to get some gorgeous shots of you and your groom.
While there are dozen of elements to consider as you plan your big day, lighting is especially important when it comes to a night wedding. Luminaries along the aisle, paper lanterns at the tables, lights strung above the dance floor…lighting can help set just the mood you’re going for.
No matter how delicious dinner is, your guests will be thrilled if you surprise them with an unexpected treat as the “after hours” of your reception really kick into full gear. Passed hors d’oeuvres at midnight? Sheet pizzas at 2am? Your guests will welcome these goodies no matter which route you go!
